An early start is the best way to ensure that your child grows up with healthy teeth for life. We recommend bringing your child in for a dental checkup by his or her first birthday. From there, we’ll offer ongoing preventative care and screenings so that potential problems can be intercepted as early as possible.
These thin, protective coatings block biofilm, acids, and food particles from collecting in the deep grooves on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. They’re especially useful when placed on your child’s newly erupted molars. No numbing or drilling is required!
Nightguards for Bruxism
Chronic clenching and grinding often happens when you sleep. The subconscious habit can cause everything from TMJ pain and disorder to worn dental work and broken teeth. A customized splint places a small amount of space between your upper and lower jaws, preventing unwanted wear and muscle tension.
Mouthguards and Sportsguards
Safeguard your teeth and self from accidental injuries. A custom fitted guard or sports mouthpiece can even reduce your risk of concussion during athletic activities. They’re one of the best pieces of insurance you or your child could have!
Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer is extremely deadly, often because it’s not identified until the most advanced stages of the disease have become evident. We screen each patient for signs of pathology, because it saves lives. Risk factors include everything from sun exposure to common viruses.
A professionally applied fluoride treatment immediately after your cleaning can remineralize tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay, sensitivity, and erosion. If needed, we may also recommend a prescription strength fluoride to use at home. Fluoride is especially great for children and patients in braces.
